Kresten Osgood is an extraordinary drummer and improviser who, with the fullest respect to tradition, challenges it at any given moment of his creative endeavors. He has performed and/or recorded with such legends as Roscoe Mitchell, Paul Bley, Lee Scratch Perry, William Parker, Masabumi Kikuchi, Derek Bailey, Wadada Leo Smith, Jason Moran, Oliver Lake, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tim Berne, Peter Brötzmann, and many others.
But even that doesn’t cover the full spectrum of Osgood’s career. A successful rapper, composer, pianist, vocalist, saxophonist and trumpeter, he has also been a driving force in nurturing and promoting the musical life of Copenhagen as an organizer and broadcaster. He partnered with WRTI for the podcast series Dangerous Sounds, narrating the story of Danish jazz for Philly audiences. He’ll further develop that international connection through this performance with three of Philadelphia’s favorite avant-garde jazz pioneers, saxophonists Bobby Zankel and Marshall Allen and pianist Dave Burrell.
